Hey there, I'm currently trying to find out how a nasty bug called Fusobacterium nucleatum is related to Head and Neck cancer. With a specific emphasis on deciphering the molecular mechanisms behind it.I graduated with a Master's degree in Zoology from the University of Calcutta back in 2021, which is coming in pretty handy right now. But, when I'm not sciencing it up, you can find me binge-watching thriller movies or tuning in to some cool podcasts.I'm also a huge sports enthusiast, with a particular fondness for football. I absolutely love Real Madrid and try to never miss a game. So, yeah, that's a bit about me.

Graduate Student
Hi, I am a graduate student and my thesis project mainly focusses on understanding the resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors in human lung adenocarcinoma by undertaking an integrative genomics and functional genomics approach. We have performed whole exome sequencing on patient samples, developed resistant cell line models and performed cell line based transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics and various array based screenings that lead us to the potential candidates involved in the resistant mechanisms. I have received my Bachelors degree in microbiology from Ramnarain Ruia College, Mumbai and masters in microbiology from St. Xaviers’s College, Mumbai. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy expressing myself through various forms of art such as painting, sculpting, and calligraphy. I also have a keen interest in classic old movies, folk music, mythological stories, exploring good food, and continuous learning.

Graduate Student
I did my undergraduation from Mumtaz P.G. College Lucknow in (Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry). After completing my Bachelors I joined Savitribai Phule Pune University, Department of Biotechnology for my Master’s degree. My doctoral research work at ACTREC focuses on understanding the genomic complexities of endocrine hormone therapy resistant breast cancer. Where, using patient samples and in vitro and in vivo established models we are studying the possible mechanisms by which hormone receptor positive breast cancer patients who initially respond to targeted therapies, eventually show resistance to these therapies. Using next generation sequencing we for the first time describe the landscape of mutations in ER+ hormone therapy sensitive and resistant breast cancer in Indian patients. My hobbies include playing cricket, hanging around with friends, chat with them, and reading, listening, writing and reciting poetries.

We are employing NGS technology to investigate the genetic landscape of papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancer in Indian patients. Papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers differ in terms of histology and clinical features. We use whole exome sequencing, targeted sequencing, and transcriptome sequencing data to investigate somatic mutations, germline mutations, copy number variations, pathogens associated with both subtypes, their biological significance and clinical implications.

I am a Graduate student and have joined Dr. Amit Dutt’s Lab as a research scholar. My expertise lies in replication stress and DNA damage response in Glioblastoma. I am a great foodie. I enjoy reading thriller novels and watching movies in my free time.
Post Doctoral Researchers
Dr. Deepika Lakhwani
Visiting Scientist
Myself Deepika Lakhwani, completed my PhD and postdoc in the plant genomics field. In 2022, I joined ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi as project scientist and worked GWAS datasets of plants. My main interests are in the fields of bioinformatics and evolutionary genomics. I worked on various projects involving next-generation sequencing including de novo assembly of plant genomes and developed pipelines to streamline the assembly and annotation process. My long-term goal is to study the genome organization and evolution of species where I could utilize my skills to solve the biological problems.
Dr. Archana K Redhu
DBT RA-III
Hi there! I am Dr. Archana a Biological Research Professional. I have received my PhD degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in 2018 where I learnt to understand and to dissect the working mechanism of drug efflux transporters (ABC and MFS) using yeast as a model system. After PhD, I joined IIT-Bombay for Post Doctoral experience where I identified a novel mechanism by which yeast escapes apoptosis after the induction of p53 expression. Currently, in dutt laboratory at ACTREC my focus is to understand the role of TP53 mediated metabolic reprogramming in Human Oral Cancer. Besides this, I am passionate about sports, in 2009 I was selected to play for Indian Hockey National Team.
