Graduate Student

Hey there, I'm currently trying to find out how a nasty bug called Fusobacterium nucleatum is related to Head and Neck cancer. With a specific emphasis on deciphering the molecular mechanisms behind it.I graduated with a Master's degree in Zoology from the University of Calcutta back in 2021, which is coming in pretty handy right now. But, when I'm not sciencing it up, you can find me binge-watching thriller movies or tuning in to some cool podcasts.I'm also a huge sports enthusiast, with a particular fondness for football. I absolutely love Real Madrid and try to never miss a game. So, yeah, that's a bit about me.

Hi, I am a graduate student and my thesis project mainly focusses on understanding the resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors in human lung adenocarcinoma by undertaking an integrative genomics and functional genomics approach. We have performed whole exome sequencing on patient samples, developed resistant cell line models and performed cell line based transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics and various array based screenings that lead us to the potential candidates involved in the resistant mechanisms. I have received my Bachelors degree in microbiology from Ramnarain Ruia College, Mumbai and masters in microbiology from St. Xaviers’s College, Mumbai. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy expressing myself through various forms of art such as painting, sculpting, and calligraphy. I also have a keen interest in classic old movies, folk music, mythological stories, exploring good food, and continuous learning.

Graduate Student

I did my undergraduation from Mumtaz P.G. College Lucknow in (Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry). After completing my Bachelors I joined Savitribai Phule Pune University, Department of Biotechnology for my Master’s degree. My doctoral research work at ACTREC focuses on understanding the genomic complexities of endocrine hormone therapy resistant breast cancer. Where, using patient samples and in vitro and in vivo established models we are studying the possible mechanisms by which hormone receptor positive breast cancer patients who initially respond to targeted therapies, eventually show resistance to these therapies. Using next generation sequencing we for the first time describe the landscape of mutations in ER+ hormone therapy sensitive and resistant breast cancer in Indian patients. My hobbies include playing cricket, hanging around with friends, chat with them, and reading, listening, writing and reciting poetries.

Archana Jaiswal

Research Scholar

Hey! I’m Archana. I recently graduated from the Department of Genetics, University of Delhi, where I spent most of my time peering into fly eyes (literally) to study neurodegeneration. Now, I’m diving into cancer biology, curious about how tumors grow, resist, and outsmart treatment. Outside the lab, you’ll probably find me dabbling into theatre, storytelling, travelling or just chasing whatever odd curiosity catches my attention that week.

Jimmy Jitkar

Research Scholar

I'm an M.Sc. graduate in Genetics from the University of Delhi with a growing interest in computers, bioinformatics, and the challenge of understanding cancer at the molecular level. While I don’t have professional experience yet, I'm currently focused on learning and building skills in coding, data analysis, and computational biology. I’m particularly fascinated by how biological complexity can be decoded through algorithms and data. Outside of science, I enjoy playing chess, solving math problems, coding for fun, and occasionally producing some truly bad drawings strictly for my own amusement.
